Zalamandra
Woman of Great Mysteries and Strong Business Sense

Zalamandra is the owner and manager of the frenzied hub of entertainment known as the Emporium, home of the Hall of Science's freaks and oddities, the disturbing, yet popular, (disturbingly popular?) Rat Game, the many erotic wonders of the Veiled Corridor, plus drink, drug, and debauchery galore for all those who wish to find it. Needless to say, Zalamandra has her fingers on the pulse of Diamond Lake, and never fails to deliver what her customers want.
Zalamandra is Fern's boss, and has shown herself to be quite stern at times; after all, she has a business to run, and can't be bothered to care about the needs of so-called "adventurers" unless they're paying customers. Zal seemed none too pleased with the elf-dancer, when her replacement act accidentally burned down part of the stage.
The madame has been known to deal harshly with any of her employees that attempt to use information gained in their work at the Emporium to blackmail patrons. However, surely the knowledge that she and her loyal assistants could, should they wish to, reveal sensitive information about virtually every powerful local personality in the town, has done much to shield her and hers from some of the more violent power-plays (like, oh, say, assasination). Even as she refuses to reveal her clients' secrets, she remains similarly tight-lipped about her own. What is Zalamandra's past, and how did she end up in Diamond Lake? Stop by the Emporium, and you might just find out.
UPDATE: Fern decided to pursue adventuring full-time, and found a few potential replacement talents, as per Zalamandra's request (read: demand). When Diamond Lake was ravaged, the Emporium was utterly destroyed. It is believed that Zalamandra escaped safely, but she has not been seen or heard from since the disaster.
